PulsePoint Respond App

Have you downloaded the PulsePoint Respond app? The Burbank Fire Department’s regional dispatch center, known as the Verdugo Fire Communications Center, launched the PulsePoint Respond app in 2016.

The app is designed to increase sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) survival rates. It alerts citizen bystanders to a SCA victim at the same time as emergency medical responders are dispatched, but a bystander may be closer to the victim. The app helps improve community response to a victim by enabling a bystander to provide lifesaving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and access a nearby public automated external defibrillator (AED).

SCA is a leading cause of death in the United States. Improving bystander CPR rates and access to AEDs is critical to survival.
